LABC Building Awards East Anglia Region

Congratulations to everyone that took part in the brilliant awards night held at the Barcelo Imperial Hotel Torquay on the 18^th June. The awards ceremony was presented by the LABCs very own glamorous Lorna Stimpson and Anna Thompson. A big thanks to this pair for keeping us entertained and amused on the night, something that the England footballers very much failed to do! Lorna is one of the LABC Business Development Directors, and Anna is the LABC Director of training. Find out more by visiting the LABC website. I also need to thank Ann Hall for all her help on the day and in the evening and for making the event happen! The hotel gave the event a special location with a room almost overhanging the sea, and they presented a sumptuous meal. Everyone felt like a winner, enjoying the rewards of their involvement with LABC, and in the knowledge that they produced the best construction and development in the South West. Thanks go to the event sponsors, LABC New Home Warranty, and Kingspan Insulation for their help.

The LABC South West Building Excellence Awards recognise and reward the best quality design construction and project management in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. The quality stems from good design and an efficient design team, and is translated into quality buildings by an effective construction team. Throughout this process Local Authority Building Control monitors the quality of design and construction. The finalists can be proud to be amongst the best projects in the region. The LABC South West Building Excellence Awards recognise and reward the best quality design construction and project management in the South West. The quality stems from good design and an efficient design team, and is translated into quality buildings by an effective construction team. Throughout this process Local Authority Building Control monitors the quality of design and construction. The finalists will be acknowledged as amongst the best projects in the South West.

Nominations can now be made by any member of the design and construction team, the building owner, or by the LABC Building Control Surveyors involved. Each entry must be approved by LABC and include an endorsement from the approving authority. If you have a project that you think is worthy of recognition, speak with your LABC surveyor and ask for their endorsement. There is no charge for entering. Nominations are now open – and can be made until the closing date of 31 March 2010.

The regional final is dedicated to showcasing the best the construction industry has to offer in the South West. The awards will attract a large audience to a prestigious ceremony at The Barcelo Torquay Imperial Hotel on 18 June 2010. It is a black tie dinner and is a great opportunity to celebrate the working relationship enjoyed by the design and construction team and to reflect on the success of being shortlisted as a finalist.

Local Authority Building Control cares about the quality of construction. LABC teams are involved with all sorts of schemes from small domestic extensions through to multi-million pound commercial buildings. They are there to guide and assist with compliance to the Building Regulations. They are also there to recognise and promote the achievements of the construction industry through the regional Building Excellence Awards.

The Building Excellence Awards are unique in that they represent all types of work from the small domestic to the large commercial. They celebrate the work of designers, engineers, contractors and craftsmen. They recognise sustainable projects that go just that little bit further than the rest. They recognise the best in partnership working. They are there for everyone that gets involved.
