East Midlands Rules
Nominated schemes must be:
- Completed in the year up to 29 February 2012
- Constructed in the East Midlands region - Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, or Nottinghamshire
- Managed and inspected by Local Authority Building Control
Nominations can be made by anybody involved with the project, from the client to the design or construction team but must be endorsed by an LABC surveyor. Sponsors cannot enter a category they are sponsoring and closing date for entries is midnight on 29 February 2012.
A panel of regional judges will evaluate all nominations and the judging will take place in March 2012. The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winners and finalists of the awards may state in advertising, promotional material and on their stationery that they are a finalist/winner, but this must make it clear in which category and in which year they were successful.
How to enter
To enter the Awards is straightforward and simple and nominations are made online from this site. To get you started we have included some useful information below and in the Quick Links to the right of this page. Read the guidance on the categories page to select the best category for your scheme. You may nominate a scheme for more than one category if it fits more than one description.
From the downloads page download the guide to making nominations - this helps you to discover what the judges are looking for from your nomination, which photographs to use and how to make the most of your endorsement. You must complete the nomination guide with the contact details, endorsements and images described on the form. You are providing contact details for the architects, contractors, engineers etc involved with the scheme. The organiser will use this information to invite these people to the awards so please enter this information accurately. Submit copies of images with your nomination. You may include drawings in pdf format where these help to explain part of the nomination.
Upload your nomination from the East Midlands region nominations page. Put all the nomination information together in one folder, zip it up and submit it as an attachment. The nomination page only accepts on attachment per nomination so it is important to zip the folder before you start the process.
Your completed nomination guide should include:
- A 200 to 400 word statement from the LABC Building Control surveyor involved with the project.
- A further statement from member(s) of the design and/or construction team, or the developer/customer. This statement should be between 300 and 500 words long.
- A further statement that describes why, if the scheme is a regional winner, the nomination should be considered to be the best of its kind in the country. This is because regional winners are forwarded to the national awards, and are judged against the other regional winners.
- A 50 word summary of the nomination that best introduces and describes the development and its achievements.
- Between 3 and 6 images of the development. pasted 2 per page into the nomination form.
- These and any additional good quality photographs of the project in jpeg format.
- Design drawings in pdf format (if you feel they support your nomination).
