The East Midlands Awards
The LABC Building Excellence Awards recognise and reward the best quality construction in the East Midlands. The quality stems from good design and an efficient design team, and is translated into quality buildings by an effective construction team.
Throughout this process Local Authority Building Control monitors the quality of design and construction. To win one of these awards - even to be identified as a Finalist will generate enormous prestige and pride for the organisations that take part. Nominations can be made for the following categories:
- Best individual dwelling or residential conversion
- Best housing development 2-10 units
- Best housing development 11 plus units
- Best social or affordable housing
- Best community building
- Best educational building
- Best small commercial building or development (typically construction value up to £1M)
- Best large commercial building or development (typically construction value over £1M)
- Best sustainable project
- Best technical innovation
- Best partnership with a local authority
- Best domestic extension
Regional winners will be put forward to the LABC national awards, where they will compete against winners from the other LABC regions.
In addition to these awards that can be nominated for, there will be a Chairman's Award. The Chairman's Award is presented by the regional chair at the Awards ceremony. The award goes to the scheme or organisation that, in the Chairman's view, made the biggest contribution, consistency or statement of all the nominations to the awards. The Chairman's Award does not have to go to one of the Category winners.
